Mash Design

/ Summary

The guys at Mash had the right idea when they purchased their Mac server but unfortunately they didn’t know where to start to configure it.

/ The Issue

Previously, Mash was running stand-alone Macs, often sharing files by burning CDs or emailing attachments. Backups were unreliable, laborious and certainly did not provide the protection Mash needed. With a vision of growth, Mash knew it needed to streamline its operations.

/ The Solution

LeetGeek was called in to develop a strategy that would enable the designers to have a centralised store for their creativity. An un-interruptable power supply was installed to ease the hassles of the then-problematic mains power. Additional backups were configured to protect the data on both the server and the workstations further. The server was also configured to host email, which had previously been hosted externally. This improved communication between the guys and reduced hosting costs.

Since 2006, Mash has continued to use LeetGeek for all its IT needs and has recently upgraded to a brand new Mac Mini server. As usual, LeetGeek sourced the new hardware and handled the migration of email and data from the old server to the new. Downtime was minimised by initially running the servers in parallel and performing the data transfer process out-of-hours.

If you have a new server but don’t know how to configure it, whether it’s Mac or Windows, call LeetGeek on (08) 7324 7777 and find out how we can simplify the process.
