/ The Issue

Mark Hamilton came to hear of LeetGeek through a referral, and requested an assessment of the IT environment. Grope Hamilton Lawyers was running an aged file server with temperamental backups and email was hosted externally with minimal anti-spam capabilities. The workstations weren’t centrally managed and regular maintenance was not being performed, making the machines run slowly and unreliably.

/ The Solution

As the current server was around four years old at the time, an upgrade of the server was not deemed the best approach. A new Windows Small Business Server was installed as a replacement, which provided Grope Hamilton Lawyers with room for growth. Microsoft Exchange was installed to manage the email accounts, and allow email, calendars and contacts to be shared between staff members.

Sophos Antivirus was installed on the server to provide centrally managed protection for the server and all workstations. Sophos PureMessage was installed to provide filtering, which quickly got the spam problem under control.

After returning the network to a smooth operation, LeetGeek now runs a regular monthly maintenance schedule to ensure that the system continues to perform at its peak. As a result, Grope Hamilton Lawyers has enjoyed several years of trouble-free operation from its IT systems and no longer experiences excessive spam levels.
